Development Permissions & Planning
Spalding Associates can provide a full range of ecological services for planning purposes and can act as agents for developments where ecological issues are important to the success of the project.
We can provide our clients with support for all the requirements placed on them by the planning process.
Much of the development planning in Britain requires assessment of ecological issues as part of the approval process. Public sector, commercial and private interests are all required to consider ecological impacts on protected or priority species and habitats, adhere to Town and Country Planning Act requirement for Environmental Impact Assessment for certain projects and demonstrate compliance with various strategies such as the Planning Policy Statements (PPSs) that replace the Planning Policy Guidelines (PPGs) .
LPA Planning Applications
Increasingly the planning application process can be undertaken using digital technology. Spalding Associates can submit applications for clients to many LPAs using the Planning Portal, the national internet based system. This reduces costs in both time and the production of supporting documents.
Coastal development
Our specialist ecologists can undertake Ecological Impact Assessment for development on coastal and tidal sites where the unique characteristics of the environment require particular skills. Development proposals below the high water mark may require FEPA and CPA licenses from the Marine Consents and Environment Unit: Spalding Associates can undertake applications for these licences for clients.
